I offer two options:

  • A comprehensive, three-stage service that guides students and their families through each step of the college application process.

  • A parent strategy session designed to address your specific concerns and empower you to feel more confident in supporting your child’s college search.

I focus on minimizing stress, incorporating affordability, and putting the student in the driver’s seat

Comprehensive College Package

Timing & Duration: Most clients begin sometime between the spring of sophomore year, and the summer prior to senior year. We schedule up to 20 student meetings, four of which include parent participation. Our final meeting is generally held in May or June of senior year.

Format: All of our work together can be done remotely. I am often available to meet with local students in person.

Communication: Outside of meetings, most communication is managed through email. All of my students also receive access to their own college planning platform, which helps us stay connected and organized.

Parent Strategy Session

The Parent Strategy Session provides you with an opportunity to ask questions and receive guidance about particular elements of college admissions that you would like to understand better.

What’s Included:

Pre-meeting questionnaire and topic(s) selection to focus the conversation. Topics to choose from (you will pick 1-3) could include: timelines, creating a balanced list, standardized testing, college affordability, visit planning, activities/jobs/volunteer service, summer programs, essay writing, and more.

1 hour video consultation

1-2 page document summarizing key takeaways from the session and outlining suggested next steps, relevant resources, and personalized recommendations.

Best suited for parents/guardians of students in 7th - 11th grade who will eventually be seeking admission to a 4-year college/university.

Why Work With Me?

I will introduce you to the current college landscape, synthesize the most important parts of the college process, and explain how each part is relevant to your child and your family. The “value-added” is this personalization.

I provide a roadmap that is clearly marked with primary deliverables and milestones, and offer a process to meet those deadlines in a measured and systematic way.

I am a valuable resource for objective information about all aspects of the college search and application process, and have a professional network that serves as an additional source of practical information and experience. I can make referrals to tutors and test-prep organizations, experts in learning differences and therapeutic programs, gap year experiences, and more.

I take time to listen to and understand your child and their interests, concerns, hopes, and motivations. Your student is transitioning to adulthood, and the college process -at its best- is an opportunity for them to take on more responsibility for organization, initiating and managing tasks, meeting deadlines, and making decisions- with appropriate support, as needed.

I can guide your family to a more strategic college list that takes affordability into account. Investing in help at the outset of the process can result in more options, more informed decision-making, and lower costs.

I free parents from needing to have all the answers.  Many parents appreciate the chance to participate in the process, without having to be the primary driver and organizer.

I fill the gap in your child’s high school college counseling. The American School Counselor Association reports that the average public school student gets only 38 minutes of college counseling over four years.
