My Story
I help families clarify what matters most to them in the college process. Regardless of whether your teen has had a traditional school experience, or taken a progressive path (such as Waldorf, Montessori, or public charter), I will help them construct their unique bridge to the future, and guide them across.
The admissions bug bit me in 10th grade when I was recruited to be a tour guide in boarding school. Two gap years followed -one in Spain, and one in Italy- on scholarship from the Rotary Club. I earned a BA from Dickinson College, an MA from Tufts University, and an Independent Educational Consultant certificate from UC Irvine.
As a member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA), I am committed to the IECA Principles of Good Practice, and actively engage in professional development in order to stay informed about the rapidly changing college admissions landscape, and higher education in general. Site visits are an important part of my work; I travel to over 25 colleges and universities each year. I am also a member of the New England Association for College Admission Counseling.
My young clients are amazing people with a wide range of interests, talents, backgrounds and academic preparation. I also volunteer as a college coach for first generation and low income students with Matchlighters, ScholarMatch and the Boys and Girls Club of Lawrence, Massachusetts.
My background in education has given me multiple perspectives on college counseling: I’ve worked in undergraduate admissions, graduate career services, professional resume writing, online learning, and as the academic registrar at an independent school. The common element fueling me? The desire to give young people the tools, information, and support they need to find their own success.
I live in Groton, Massachusetts with my family and two extra-small rescue dogs who walk me twice a day. One of my children is in 10th grade, and the other is a junior in college.
